Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 14 more assists than your opponent, a fact the University Cougars proved on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 79-43 win over the Titans on the road. With the Cougars ahead 55-22 at the half, the match was all but over already.
The Cougars' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ethan Adams, who scored 16 points along with 8 steals and 5 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Nazario, who scored 12 points along with 4 steals.
The Titans' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ernie Centeno, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Aidon Amoah, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 11 rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for the Cougars and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for the Titans, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
University won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Cypress Creek at 7:30 p.m. on November 29th. Cypress Creek will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while University is ranked 45th). As for University, they will head out on the road to face off against New Smyrna Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
