The Louise Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 70-29 loss at the hands of East Bernard. While losing is never fun, Louise can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1227th, while East Bernard is ranked 520th).
Despite the loss, Louise still got an impressive performance from Madison Grant, who scored 13 points along with 7 rebounds.
East Bernard's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ashlynn Lemos led the charge by scoring 22 points along with 6 steals and 5 assists. That makes it two consecutive games in which Lemos has scored at least 25% of East Bernard's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Hudgins, who scored 19 points along with 6 assists and 6 rebounds.
Louise has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for East Bernard, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
Louise is on the road again on Friday and play against Brazos at 1:00 p.m. on December 8th. Brazos comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last nine games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for East Bernard, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Pasadena at 10:20 a.m.
