Aspen had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 40-0 victory over the Grand Valley Cardinals. The Skiers have beaten the Cardinals the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Cardinals has come to flipping the script.
Dylan Mika had a dynamite game, rushing for 172 yards and a pair of TDs on only 12 carries. Those 172 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Mickey Marolt was another key player, throwing for 125 yards and three touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Aspen's defense and their six sacks. Grand Valley's QB won't forget Blake Contreras anytime soon given he sacked him twice.
