George County is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will host the Forest Hill Patriots at 5:00 p.m. George County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Forest Hill will be up against a hot George County squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went the Rebels' way against Vancleave on Saturday as they made off with a 13-4 win. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
George County got a great performance from Chandler Cameron as he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. Cameron has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grant Reeves was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cooper Ward, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
George County lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Forest Hill's offense. They lost 6-0 to Canton last Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Patriots' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Forest Hill saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charles Barry Jr., who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That hit was Barry Jr.'s first of the season.
The victory got George County back to even at 3-3. As for Forest Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. George County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Forest Hill struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
