The Frederick Bombers will take on the Big Pasture Rangers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Frederick is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Frederick took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Comanche, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Frederick narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Comanche 7-6. Winning may never get old, but the Bombers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Dalton Wells made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Wells was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Carter Russell was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Grady Hillburn, who scored a run and stole two bases.
Meanwhile, Big Pasture came up short against Dibble on Saturday, falling 14-3. The matchup marked the Rangers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Like Frederick, Big Pasture also got a great game from a two-way player: LANE TINSLEY. He struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. TINSLEY was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.
In other batting news, LAYNE DAVIDSON made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. HAYDEN TINSLEY was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.
Even though they lost, Big Pasture kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Frederick pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Big Pasture, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
