Basketball Game Preview: Winston County Yellowjackets vs. Addison Bulldogs

Winston County and Addison are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2022, but not for long. Both will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Winston County took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 67-37 victory over Meek. The Yellowjackets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 20 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Lynleigh Cobb, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 13 boards. She has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lizzy Bass, who posted 12 points and eight rebounds.

Winston County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 28 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Addison beat Cullman Christian 62-51 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Winston County pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.3 points. As for Addison, their victory bumped their record up to 7-10.

Winston County was able to grind out a solid win over Addison when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 44-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Winston County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
