On Thursday, Mount Airy are packing up and heading on the road for the first time this season. They face off against Elkin at 7:00 PM. It might come down to the wire as the game is expected to be close.
Mount Airy had enough points to win and then some against West Stokes last Thursday, winning 34-14. The Mount Airy offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the contest anyway.
Meanwhile, Elkin found themselves the relunctant recipients of an unpleasant 14-35 punch to the gut against North Surry last week.
Mount Airy's win lifted them to 2-0 while Elkin's loss dropped them down to 0-2. We'll find out if Mount Airy can add another positive mark to their record or if Elkin can shake off the loss and take the spring out of Mount Airy's step.
