Softball Recap: Alta Loma Takes a Loss

Alta Loma lost against Rancho Cucamonga back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Alta Loma Braves fell just short of the Rancho Cucamonga Cougars by a score of 10-8.

Ava Salazar and Isabella Galindo stepped up to the plate in a big way. Salazar scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances, while Galindo scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Galindo a new career-high in RBI (three).

Even though they lost, Alta Loma hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in seven consecutive matches.

Alta Loma's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Rancho Cucamonga, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Alta Loma will take on Garey at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Garey has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.22 runs per game on average), something Alta Loma will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Rancho Cucamonga, they will face off against Oak Hills at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Rancho Cucamonga is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
