Last Friday, Sugar-Salem faced South Fremont in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Sugar-Salem fell just short of South Fremont by a score of 49-46. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Sugar-Salem has suffered yet this season.
Despite the defeat, Sugar-Salem got a solid performance out of Ashlyn Harris, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Harris scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andee Petterson, who scored 12 points along with seven assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, Ririe put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 58-23 win over Salmon on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Ririe has posted since November 30, 2023.
Sugar-Salem's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Ririe, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10.
Everything came up roses for Sugar-Salem against Ririe in their previous matchup two weeks ago as the squad secured a 65-27 victory. With Sugar-Salem ahead 34-13 at the half, the game was all but over already.
