Withrow's tough 65-43 defeat to Trotwood-Madison on Tuesday might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Withrow can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 366th, while Trotwood-Madison is ranked 65th).
Withrow's loss came despite strong showings from Myles Rochelle and Michael Johnson. Rochelle scored ten points along with four steals, while Johnson scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Trotwood-Madison's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marlon Howard jr, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. Jermiel Atkins was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Withrow's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Trotwood-Madison, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Withrow will head out on the road to take on Woodward at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Woodward has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 856 points over their last 12 matchups. As for Trotwood-Madison, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Belmont at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Belmont sitting on four straight wins and Trotwood-Madison on three.
