Denton moved up to 494 from 539 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A Region I District 5. A 21-12 win over the Broncos helped the Broncos improve their standing.
Brewer extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Wichita Falls, 27-23. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Bears.
Denton's dynamic duo of Cy Ward and Deandre Coleman proved tough for Lake Dallas to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Ward threw for 218 yards and one touchdown and Coleman had 66 yards receiving. Ke' von Buris helped Denton's passing attack out by catching four balls for 61 yards.
Hunter McDonald was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 54 yards on 17 carries as Azle fell to the Falcons. Teammate Dalton Cole added to the ground attack by rushing for 44 yards.
The Broncos' Ward and Buris have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 4A Region I District 5 in both passing and receiving yards. Ward has thrown for 952 yards this season, while Buris has 16 catches for 301 yards. Corbyn Koiner from the Hornets leads the league in rushing with 443 yards.
Rider was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to second in the league. The Raiders defeated Byron Nelson 50-14 earlier in the week.
