The Sussex Central Golden Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Delmar Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sussex Central is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Last Thursday, Sussex Central was beaten by Cape Henlopen 56-13.
Meanwhile, Delmar didn't have quite enough to beat Sussex Academy on Tuesday and fell 27-24. Delmar has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sussex Central dropped their record down to 0-15 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.5 points per game. As for Delmar, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.
Sussex Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Delmar when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 41-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sussex Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
