The Biggs Wolverines will challenge the St. Bernard's Crusaders at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Biggs has nine straight wins, St. Bernard's has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Tuesday, Biggs got the win against Mt. Shasta by a conclusive 10-4. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.
Gracie Sheppard made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Biggs let Arden Vines and Riley Harrison run wild. Vines went 3-for-5 with one home run and two runs, while Harrison went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Harrison a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lyllian Baxter, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Biggs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mt. Shasta only posted an OBP of .353.
Meanwhile, St. Bernard's lost 23-16 to Arcata on Tuesday.
Teghan Smith stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Logan Tallman was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
St. Bernard's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Biggs, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
Biggs skirted past St. Bernard's 3-1 in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
