Baseball Recap: Biglerville Takes a Loss

Biglerville had lost four straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 4-6 to make it five. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Littlestown Thunderbolts. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thunderbolts this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-9 back in March.

Jared Hollabaugh was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Biglerville is 3-1 when Hollabaugh posts two or more runs, but 1-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brayden Pearce, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

As for Littlestown, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games.

On Littlestown's side, their win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Braylen Branham, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Branham has posted since back in May of 2024. Logan Hoover also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Biglerville has already played their next match, a 10-4 loss against Camp Hill on the 17th. As for Littlestown, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-8 victory against Susquehannock on the 21st.
