Meadowview Christian has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Escambia Academy Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meadowview Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 428th, while Escambia Academy is ranked 173rd).
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 73-41, which was the final score in Meadowview Christian's tilt against Cornerstone Christian on January 4th.
Meanwhile, Escambia Academy had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 47-33 victory over Wilcox Academy.
Escambia Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Quinton Odom, who scored 19 points, and Charlie Sasser, who scored 20 points. Odom has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rontae Watson, who scored eight points.
Meadowview Christian bumped their record down to 0-5 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Escambia Academy, their win bumped their record up to 12-2.
Meadowview Christian was taken down by Escambia Academy 86-19 in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. Can Meadowview Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
