Kerens is 0-9 against Martins Mill since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Kerens Bobcats will be playing at home against the Martins Mill Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Kerens has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Martins Mill will arrive with nine straight victories.
Last Friday, Kerens came up short against Cayuga and fell 46-35.
LaPoynor typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Martins Mill proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 72-65 victory over the Flyers. Given Martins Mill's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while LaPoynor is ranked 370th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Jak Kinder, who scored 37 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Archer Schneider, who scored 17 points along with six assists.
Kerens' loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Martins Mill, their win bumped their record up to 27-4.
Kerens was taken down by Martins Mill 83-38 in their previous meeting back in January. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Kerens was down 40-17.
