Alhambra is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will square off against the Northgate Broncos at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Alhambra has three straight wins, Northgate has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Alhambra's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Thursday. They put the hurt on Pinole Valley with a sharp 7-0 victory.
Not much got past Willa Adler, who gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Pinole Valley off the board. Adler has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Alhambra got a massive performance out of Genevieve Hernandez, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. Those two runs gave Hernandez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nichaela West, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Northgate came up short against San Clemente last Friday and fell 7-3.
Stella Hanko was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Ryann Bohmaker also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Alhambra's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Northgate, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Alhambra hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .394. However, it's not like Northgate struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Alhambra beat Northgate 5-2 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Broncos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
