Gaston Christian fell just short of Westminster Catawba Christian by a score of 57-55. Gaston Christian's loss continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Despite the defeat, Gaston Christian had strong showings from Cameron Newman, who scored 20 points, and Makoi Mabor Marier, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. Mabor Marier scored a full 36.4% of Gaston Christian's points, the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kendall Southern was another key contributor, scoring four points.
Gaston Christian's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-11. As for Westminster Catawba Christian, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-4.
Gaston Christian will be playing at home against SouthLake Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. SouthLake Christian Academy is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Westminster Catawba Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Berean Baptist Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
