Sharpsville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 14-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mercer Mustangs. On the bright side, the nine- run effort marked the Blue Devils' highest-scoring game to date.

Jonathan Bissell made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Gabe Titus, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Sharpsville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Mercer, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sharpsville will take on West Middlesex at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Big Reds' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Blue Devils' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Mercer, they will host Reynolds at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs are facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
