Saugus is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Camarillo by a score of 10-6 on Saturday. Saugus' victory was all the more impressive since the Scorpions were averaging only four runs allowed on the season.
Kona Ramsbottom looked comfortable as she pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance gave her a new career-low in hits.
At the plate, Saugus let Brianna Garcia and Jordan Shepherd run wild. Garcia scored three runs while going 2-for-4, while Shepherd scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Luci Curiel was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, while Chino Hills put up some runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Notre Dame (SO). Chino Hills walked away with a 3-0 win over Notre Dame (SO). The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Huskies.
The result came thanks to Lily Stopani's shutout, as she gave up just six hits. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Chino Hills saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brett Lambrecht, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Lambrecht also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
Saugus' victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Chino Hills, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Chino Hills' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Saugus has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .475. It's a different story for Chino Hills, though, as they've only averaged .345. Will they be able to contain Saugus' hitters?
Saugus suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to Chino Hills in their previous matchup back in May of 2022. Can Saugus avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
