The Fremont Silverwolves will face off against the Brighton Bengals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Fremont will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Fremont is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They snuck past Alta with a 31-27 win.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Manase Tuatagaloa and Tucker Brown. Tuatagaloa had a great game and threw for 208 yards and three TDs. Meanwhile, Brown was balling out in the loss, throwing for 228 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brighton). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Granger 49-8. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Bengals just coasted through the last quarter.
Fremont better keep an eye on Ryce Palepoi. He was instrumental in Brighton's win, throwing for 229 yards and four TDs while completing 85.7% of his passes. That's the most passing touchdowns Palepoi has posted since back in September. Brighton's leading receiver Jayce Evans was Palepoi's top target yet again, picking up 100 receiving yards and one score.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Brighton proved: they limited Granger to a paltry 2.9 yards per carry. While five picked up at least one total tackle, Palepoi stood above the rest. He threw for 229 yards and four touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes. The dominant display was nothing new: Brighton has now limited their opponent to fewer and fewer yards per carry in three consecutive contests.
Brighton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Dax Matheson and AJ Anigbo.
Brighton now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Fremont, their record now sits at 9-2.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Fremont has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 208.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Brighton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 173.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Fremont lost to Brighton on the road by a decisive 56-42 margin when the teams last played back in August of 2020. Thankfully for the Silverwolves, Gabe Curtis (who rushed for 193 yards and a pair of scores on only 15 carries, and also threw for 242 yards and four TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
