The Canton Little Giants will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Galesburg Silver Streaks at 7:00 p.m. Canton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Galesburg likes a good challenge.
Last Saturday, Canton earned a 60-47 victory over Bloomington. Given Canton's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Bloomington is ranked 206th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Canton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Allison Wheeler, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Wheeler is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jena Goforth, who scored 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Galesburg unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 46-33 to Morton. Galesburg has struggled against Morton recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Canton is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. As for Galesburg, their loss dropped their record down to 20-3.
