After flying high against the Mifflin Punchers last Monday, the Linden-McKinley Panthers came back down to earth. Linden-McKinley was outmatched by Columbus International on the road and fell 73-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Linden-McKinley has suffered yet this season.
Linden-McKinley's loss on Tuesday came despite strong showings from Dennie Houston and Tamiya Harrington. Houston dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Harrington scored 13 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Houston pulled down eight or more rebounds.
It was another big night for Leila Carter, who dropped a triple-double on 44 points, 13 rebounds, and 14 steals for Columbus International. That makes it 15 consecutive games in which Carter has scored at least a third of Columbus International's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Annazai Ingram-cross, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds.
Linden-McKinley dropped their record down to 7-7 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Columbus International, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Linden-McKinley and East will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Ohio (East is ranked 644th, while Linden-McKinley is ranked 619th). As for Columbus International, Columbus International and Whetstone will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Whetstone comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
