Citrus Belt recap Sept. 26, 2012
Steven Best of Yucaipa ran for the longest rushing play in Citrus Belt this season against Beaumont last week. Best ran for 55 yards on the play and finished with 226 on the day as his team fell to the Cougars.
Cajon was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in the league. The Cowboys vanquished Corona 34-28 earlier in the week.
Jordan Ory was the best wideout in the league this week as Redlands beat Palm Springs. Ory racked up four receptions for 117 yards. Walter Jones helped Redlands' passing attack out by catching three balls for 95 yards.
Billy Gustason put up the best numbers through the air as Yucaipa fell to Beaumont. He finished with 12 completions for 186 yards and three touchdowns. Gustason's favorite target this week was Brandon Scott, who caught six passes for 97 yards.
Justin Price's team's Gustason and Scott have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Citrus Belt in both passing and receiving yards. Gustason has thrown for 994 yards this season, while Scott, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 34 catches for 543 yards. The Terriers' Craig Lee leads the league in rushing yards with 741.
Cajon moved up to 261 from 298 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Kim Battin's team was able to make the jump by beating the Panthers 34-28.
