The Beech Grove Hornets were the 64-58 winner over the Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Beech Grove took a serious blow against Franklin Community on Friday, falling 78-28. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Beech Grove has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Beech Grove lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jeremiah Lee. Despite the final result, he scored nine points.
Even though they lost, Beech Grove were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Franklin Community only racked up 20 assists.
Franklin Community got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Wyatt Nickleson out in front who went 8 for 15 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 3 assists. Nickleson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Micah Davis was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight assists and four steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Beech Grove and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Franklin Community, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.
Beech Grove will be home for the holidays to greet Roncalli at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Roncalli presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Beech Grove in Indiana (Roncalli is ranked 150th, while Beech Grove is ranked 358th). As for Franklin Community, they will head out on the road to face off against Bloomington North at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Bloomington North is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53 points per game.
