First Baptist Christian pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to La Salette Academy 59-55. It was the first time this season that First Baptist Christian let down their fans at home.
Charles Prather was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with eight rebounds and two steals for La Salette Academy. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Prather has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Eamon Martin, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
First Baptist Christian's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-3. As for La Salette Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. First Baptist Christian will take on Homefires at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Homefires focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 back in December of 2023. La Salette Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Assumption Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 13th. Assumption Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
