Lightridge hasn't had much luck against Heritage recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Lightning will head out to face off against the Pride at 6:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Lightridge took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Stone Bridge 4-3.
Lightridge let Everett Clark and Brody Clark run wild. Everett got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, while Brody went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Webb, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Heritage let Tuscarora stack four runs on them in the seventh inning on Thursday but luckily Heritage prevailed anyway. The Pride narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Huskies 8-7. The victory continues a trend for the Pride in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won four in a row.
Sam Walsh looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2025.
On the hitting side, Cooper Miskelly was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Jack Mehlberg was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Lightridge now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Heritage, their record is now 11-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lightridge has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Heritage struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Lightridge couldn't quite get it done against Heritage in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 as they fell 8-3. Can the Lightning avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
