After three games on the road, Bruce is heading back home. They will take on The Water Valley Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Bruce is ranked 190th, while Water Valley is ranked 200th).
After only six points in their last matchup, Bruce made sure to put some points up on the board against Palmer on Friday. Bruce took down Palmer 39-22.
Jay cole Williams had a dynamite game for Bruce, rushing for 149 yards and four touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Korique Pierce, who rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Meanwhile, Water Valley suffered a rough 40-14 defeat at the hands of Calhoun City on Friday. Water Valley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 26-0.
Water Valley's defeat came about despite a quality game from Jaden Morgan, who rushed for 128 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.1 yards per carry.
Bruce's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Water Valley, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Bruce took a serious blow against Water Valley in their previous meeting back in September of 2022, falling 39-6. Can Bruce avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
