The Springfield Senators will square off against the Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Springfield is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Springfield and Lincoln had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Senators came out on top against the Railsplitters by a score of 7-4 on Tuesday.
Mia Volpert was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3.

Bella Pagliara

In other batting news, Bella Pagliara was excellent, going 1-for-4 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Maya Bennett was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Sacred Heart-Griffin came up short against Auburn on Monday and fell 5-1. The Cyclones haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Like Springfield, Sacred Heart-Griffin also got a great game from a two-way player: Kenzie Wieland. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Wieland was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run.
Springfield pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Sacred Heart-Griffin, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Springfield has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 13.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Sacred Heart-Griffin struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 12.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Springfield skirted past Sacred Heart-Griffin 2-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Senators have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cyclones turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
