Softball Recap: Lake Has No Trouble Against Avon

After only two runs in their last game, Lake made sure to put some runs up on the board against Avon on Saturday. The Blue Streaks blew past the Eagles 11-1. The Blue Streaks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by ten runs or more this season.

Olivia Brown and Bri Handy did most of the damage at the plate: Brown went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Handy went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Handy a new career-high. Aubrey Eisele was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Lake is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Avon, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-7.

Lake wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 6-0 win against Otsego on the 26th. As for Avon, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 3-2 loss against Steele on the 28th.
