In what's become a running theme this season, the St. Mary's Cardinals gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Santee 80-33 at home. St. Mary's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
St. Mary's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alissa Brabec, who scored 24 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Annabelle Barlow, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Despite the defeat, Santee saw an underclassman step up: Miley Pike scored 22 points.
The win (which was St. Mary's third in a row) raised their record to 10-2. As for Santee, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
St. Mary's will be playing in front of their home fans against Winside on Thursday. Winside is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Santee, they will head out on the road to square off against Marty Indian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Marty Indian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
