If the Hollins Royals were riding high off their 79-43 takedown of the Pinellas Park Patriots last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Hollins had to suffer through a rough 78-42 loss at the hands of Gibbs. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hollins in their matchups with Gibbs: they've now lost four in a row.
Loss or not, Hollins got some senior leadership from Malachi Miller and Josh Castallani. Miller scored 18 points along with two steals and two blocks, while Castallani. scored nine points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Miller has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times he's played.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gibbs to victory, but perhaps none more so than Oneal Delancy, who scored 22 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Medina, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Hollins' defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Gibbs, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 19-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hollins will take on Tarpon Springs at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Gibbs, Gibbs and St. Petersburg will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. St. Petersburg is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
