Cerritos is a perfect 10-0 against Whitney since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Dons will face off against the Wildcats at 3:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Cerritos put up the most runs they have all season on Friday. They blew past Glenn 19-1. The victory was nothing new for the Dons as they're now sitting on four straight.
Meanwhile, Whitney got the win against Bolsa Grande on Monday by a conclusive 17-2. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.
Amaya Dugal and Monicka Manni made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Dugal pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Manni struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Dugal has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Dugal went 2-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Manni scored a run while going 3-for-4. Those three RBI gave Dugal a new career-high.
In other batting news, Whitney let Ella Nelson and Chiugo Anyama run wild. Nelson scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Anyama scored four runs while going 4-for-4. That's the most runs Anyama has posted since back in February of 2024. Olachi Anyama was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.
Whitney kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 11.2.
The win got Whitney back to even at 6-6. As for Cerritos, their record now sits at 7-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cerritos has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Whitney struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Cerritos took their victory against Whitney when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 8-1 score. Do the Dons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
