Basketball Recap: Freedom Christian Academy Drops Season-High Score on Amandla Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Freedom Christian Academy). They took their contest on Saturday with ease, bagging a 113-61 win over the Amandla Academy Disciples. Winning may never get old, but the Patriots sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Leading Freedom Christian Academy to victory were Karsten Swinney and Bryce West. Swinney dropped a double-double on 41 points and 11 assists, while West posted 29 points in addition to seven assists and seven steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Swinney has scored at least a third of Freedom Christian Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cristian Sias, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 boards.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Freedom Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now racked up at least 23 assists in three consecutive games.

Freedom Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 88.3 points per game. As for Amandla Academy, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Freedom Christian Academy and Harrells Christian Academy will round out the year against one another at at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Freedom Christian Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Amandla Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lab University Prep National at 7:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
