The Union Rockets can finally bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They came out on top against Seven Oaks Classical by a score of 41-28. The victory was just what Union needed coming off of a 72-39 loss in their prior game.
Union found their leader in underclassman Lamar Schwartz, who dropped a triple-double on 18 points, ten rebounds, and ten steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Schwartz has scored at least a third of Union's points. Another player making a difference was Noah Schmucker, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Union's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-9. As for Seven Oaks Classical, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union will square off against Daleville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Seven Oaks Classical on the road again on Thursday and play against Pleasant View Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Pleasant View Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Seven Oaks Classical in Indiana (Pleasant View Christian is ranked 204th, while Seven Oaks Classical is ranked 462nd).
