5A Region II District 12 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Rockwall's Zach Berryman rumbled for the longest rushing play in 5A Region II District 12 this season in his game against Boyd last week. Berryman's team fell to the Broncos as he sprinted for 74 yards on the play and finished with 175 in all.
Lee moved up to 262 from 307 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 23-7 win over Texas helped the Raiders improve their standing.
Rockwall-Heath's dynamic duo of Jordan Hoy and Shyon Motlagh proved tough for Rowlett to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hoy threw for 276 yards and six touchdowns and Motlagh had 99 yards receiving. RJ Williams helped Rockwall-Heath's passing attack out by catching five balls for 71 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Destri White and Treyvon Marsh Horn has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. White leads the league in passing with 711 yards, while Marsh has rushed for 390 yards this season. The Hawks' Motlagh leads the league in receiving yards with 292 on 21 catches.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Mesquite and Longview. The Skeeters enters the contest ranked 14th in the state, while the Lobos ranks 21st.
Mesquite extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region II District 12 this week by beating Plano West, 49-35. The win marks fourth in a row for the Robbie Robinson's team.
