The Hope Academy Trojan Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 22 points or more this season. Everything went their way against East Ridge on Wednesday as Hope Academy made off with a 78-56 victory. Given Hope Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while East Ridge is ranked 691st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hope Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dwayne Foreman III out in front who scored 22 points along with eight assists and five steals. The game was Foreman III's 15th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nathaniel Boyer, who scored 18 points along with six steals and five assists.
Despite the loss, East Ridge still got an impressive performance from Jordan Corman, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Corman also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholas Vazquez, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, East Ridge were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hope Academy only racked up 20 assists.
Hope Academy is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for East Ridge, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.
Hope Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Belleview at 2:00 p.m. on December 21st. Belleview is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. East Ridge will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Mount Dora Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on December 29th.
