While Our Lady of Good Counsel's win against Bishop McNamara wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Falcons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Mustangs on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won four in a row.
Our Lady of Good Counsel let Grace Mackrell and Isabel Camara run wild. Mackrell went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Camara went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave Camara a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Giselle Reyes, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Our Lady of Good Counsel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop McNamara only posted a batting average of .154.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth Seton came into Friday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They never let The Academy of the Holy Cross get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory on Friday. Elizabeth Seton might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.
Kimmya Sims made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Keagan Cooper, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Zoe Johnson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
The win got Elizabeth Seton back to even at 6-6. As for Our Lady of Good Counsel, their record is now 8-4.
Our Lady of Good Counsel came out on top in a nail-biter against Elizabeth Seton when the teams last played on April 9th, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
