Shelby County came out on top against Central of Clay County on Tuesday thanks in part to Cooper Pennington's efforts. Pennington turned in nothing short of a gem, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Shelby County's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 6-1 (and 6-7 when he doesn't).

Pennington's strong effort led Shelby County over Central of Clay County and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Shelby County is 9-1 against Central of Clay County going back to April of 2021, a lead they'll look to extend.
