Greenwood Mennonite stacked a 13th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 61-13 win over Fairwinds Christian at home. With Greenwood Mennonite ahead 48-6 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Greenwood Mennonite can attribute much of their success to Faith Troyer, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds, and Laci Mast, who scored 26 points along with six steals. Mast is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nona Wright, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Chestertown Christian Academy came up short against Seaside Christian Academy on Friday and fell 28-20. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Chestertown Christian Academy came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while Seaside Christian Academy is ranked 279th).
Greenwood Mennonite's victory bumped their record up to 17-2. As for Chestertown Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
Everything came up roses for Greenwood Mennonite against Chestertown Christian Academy when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 59-12 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Greenwood Mennonite since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
