Basketball Recap: Eagle Valley Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Eagle Valley extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Dylan Zoller. The Eagle Valley Devils enjoyed a cozy 76-60 victory over the Fruita Monument Wildcats on Wednesday thanks in part to Zoller, who went 9 for 16 on his way to 24 points and eight rebounds. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game.

The team also got some help courtesy of Brian Fontana, who posted 14 points and seven rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played.

Fruita Monument's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jhett Wells, who put up 28 points and six rebounds, and Karson Weddle, who posted 14 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. That was a full 46.7% of Fruita Monument's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Aiden Tuning, who put up seven points.

Eagle Valley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Fruita Monument, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3.

Eagle Valley will take on Grand Junction in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fruita Monument and Ponderosa will compete for holiday cheer at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Fruita Monument is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.3 points per game this season.
