Two dominant guards in Tyson Wilson and Jayden Coney are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Treasure Coast Titans will face off against the Royal Palm Beach Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Treasure Coast entered their tilt with Vero Beach with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Treasure Coast took down Vero Beach 64-47 on Friday. Given Treasure Coast's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Vero Beach is ranked 339th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Treasure Coast can attribute much of their success to Tyler Shelton, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds, and Wilson, who almost dropped a triple-double on 17 points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Shelton has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dejuan Preston, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Royal Palm Beach's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 86-60 walloping at the hands of Wellington. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Royal Palm Beach in their matchups with Wellington: they've now lost nine in a row.
Treasure Coast's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-5. As for Royal Palm Beach, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4.
Treasure Coast strolled past Royal Palm Beach when the teams last played back in December of 2018 by a score of 63-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Treasure Coast since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
