The Crooksville Ceramics will head out to challenge the Maysville Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Crooksville is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
On Saturday, Crooksville made easy work of Bishop Rosecrans and carried off a 10-4 victory.
Dalena Rollison was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Chamberlin, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Maysville faced off against Cambridge on Friday. Maysville blew past Cambridge 14-4. The high-scoring effort was just what the Panthers needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Kaelynne Mitton made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Mitton was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Maysville let Kam Brooks and Lily Tumblin run wild. Brooks scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Tumblin went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Sophie Dennis was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Maysville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cambridge only posted a batting average of .238.
Crooksville's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Maysville, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Crooksville was able to grind out a solid victory over Maysville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Crooksville since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
