Jill Allred was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Emerson Eilers was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Lily Delarosa was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Royal was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in seven consecutive games.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Rochester walked away with it. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Bulldogs on Thursday.
Layna Demers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Charlie Culp, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Cheyenne Justice, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Royal's win bumped their record up to 17-3. As for Rochester, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
Both Royal and Rochester just can't seem to miss. The Knights have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Rochester struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
