If the Fallbrook Warriors were riding high off their 66-26 takedown of the Classical Academy Caimans last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Fallbrook fell just short of Mt. Carmel by a score of 53-51. Fallbrook has struggled against Mt. Carmel recently, as their contest on Wednesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Christian Myers, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Samuel Carmona, who scored ten points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mt. Carmel to victory, but perhaps none more so than Raymond Hourani, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Hourani has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last six times he's played. Makai Orje was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Fallbrook has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Mt. Carmel, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fallbrook will take on San Pasqual at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. San Pasqual is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Mt. Carmel, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Escondido at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Escondido will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 942nd, while Mt. Carmel is ranked 357th).
