The Roosevelt Roughriders's seven-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 71-46 margin over Fort Morgan. Roosevelt's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Leading Roosevelt to victory were Nolan Peterson and Seppe Salvatore. Peterson scored 22 points along with nine rebounds and four steals, while Salvatore dropped a double-double on 27 points and 17 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Salvatore has scored all season. Joseph Palma was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with four steals.
Despite the loss, Fort Morgan still got an impressive performance from Aiden Garver, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Jackson Wiedrich, who scored three points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Roosevelt's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-10. As for Fort Morgan, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-10.
Roosevelt will head out on the road to face off against Severance at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Severance presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Roosevelt in Colorado (Severance is ranked 77th, while Roosevelt is ranked 283rd). As for Fort Morgan, they will be playing at home against Niwot at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Niwot focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday.
