Liberty got a good showing from Max Bauer, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Bauer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, David Kempf made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Vista Ridge). They came out on top against Palmer Ridge by a score of 15-10 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won four in a row.
Jacob Nelson was incredible, going 4-for-5 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and two runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Martinez, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double.
Vista Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Vista Ridge, their record is now 6-11.
Everything went Liberty's way against Vista Ridge when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Liberty made off with a 15-9 win. Will the Lancers repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
