Anavey Gonzalez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Alexandra Torres was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Julian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top against Calipatria by a score of 10-7 on Wednesday.
Hailey Bennett was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 16 batters over six innings while giving up six earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Bennett was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Caiya Regalado was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Alison Hernandez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Julian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .562. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Julian's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Borrego Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Borrego Springs hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. However, it's not like Julian struggles in that department as they've averaged .376. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Borrego Springs suffered a grim 17-8 defeat to Julian in their previous matchup back in February. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
