Connor Pressler was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Pressler was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).

Meanwhile, Maplewood earned a 9-4 win over Cranberry Area on Thursday.
Like Jamestown, Maplewood also got a great game from a two-way player: Chase Koelle. On the mound, Koelle tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Gavin Reynolds pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Koelle a new career-low in walks (one). At bat, Koelle scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances, while Reynolds scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andrew Proper, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. Garrett Brucker was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Jamestown's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Maplewood, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Jamestown has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Maplewood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
