Baseball Recap: Fayette Ware Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

After flying high against Freedom Prep Academy last Wednesday, Fayette Ware came back down to earth. Fayette Ware came up short against the Memphis Central Warriors on Thursday, falling 17-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-6 last Tuesday.

Aiden Ross was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Fayette Ware: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-3 otherwise. Angel Hernadez also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Even though they lost, Fayette Ware always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. This was only their first loss (out of three games) when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Fayette Ware's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-4. As for Memphis Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Fayette Ware Wildcats challenge Southwind Jaguars at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Memphis Central, they will welcome Kirby at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Memphis Central is on a four-game streak of home wins, Kirby a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
